Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect area, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.
The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, contains 150 slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel compound that features a number of luxuries in addition to the casino, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
