Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is banned. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of most borders.
The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling hall, contains 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that highlights many amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 tables.
